The Board is made up of six (6) non-executive directors. All directors are required to submit themselves for re-election every three years in accordance with the Company’s Articles of Association. The directors are given timely and appropriate information to enable then exercise full and effective control over the company’s business and implementation of its strategic policies, including overall systems of internal controls over operations, financial and compliance issues.
The Board, headed by the Chairman is therefore fully accountable and responsible for the performance and affairs of the company. Through quarterly meetings of the Board and regular management updates, the directors are able to keep in touch with current and future business needs of the company, the economy, and the general investment practices relevant to the company. Where appropriate, directors have been able to call upon experts in different industries to share their understanding of the industry and facilitate better decision-making by the Board.
James is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from the University of Nairobi. He also holds an MBA from the same University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K). He has immense work experienced having worked at Price Waterhousecoopers, Lornho Africa and is currently the CEO of UAP Kenya Insurance.
Tom holds a BSC Civil Engineering from UON and MBA from Moi University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K) and a Certified Public Secretary (CPS (K). He has immense work experienced having worked at Price Waterhousecoopers, British American Insurance Company as the general Manager and is currently the CEO of Pan Africa Life Insurance.
Felistus holds an MBA in Strategic Management from University of Nairobi, Bachelor of Business Management from Egerton University, and is a graduate of Strathmore University Executive Leadership Program for Management Development (PMD). She is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA (K)) and a member of Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
Gathee is a Certified Public Secretary and has a wide range of experience having worked on donor-funded projects run by the big-five consulting firms in Kenya. For the last six years Ruth has been working for a Danida funded project - Business Advocacy Fund.
At Nabo, Pius Muchiri’s priority as Managing Director is to ensure the company not only meets but surpasses its promise to investors.
Mr. Muchiri joined Centum in 2004 as an accountant and quickly became head the firm’s quoted private equity (QPE) division. During his tenure, Pius steered the growth of Nabo Capital to the third most profitable fund manager in the country.
In addition to driving Nabo’s strategy and spearheading uptake of new investment opportunities, he has been instrumental in the launch of bespoke investment products addressing the varied needs of investors. These products have enabled investors to access opportunities in the following sectors: capital markets, real estate, education and energy.
Pius holds a Bachelors of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya finalist and holds a CFA Charter. In addition, he is a member of East African Investment Professionals.
After successful transformation of the QPE business line into a fully-fledged asset management boutique, Pius is now focused on mobilizing third party assets from across the globe. His vision is to see Nabo Capital become the leading truly African investment solution provider in scale, innovation and profitability.
